So, what does this mean in practice? When you tap the bell icon in your Google Keep notes, your reminders will now be saved in Google Tasks. You'll see the familiar blue Tasks icon at the top of your note. The existing options for setting reminders, like 'Tomorrow morning,' 'Tomorrow evening,' or 'Next week,' along with the ability to pick a specific date and time with repeat intervals, remain unchanged.

However, here's where it gets controversial: One of the biggest shifts is the removal of location-based reminders like 'Home,' 'Work,' or 'Pick a place.' Google Tasks doesn't currently support these, so any existing location data will be moved into the task description.

Once your reminders are set, they'll appear in both the Google Tasks app and your Google Calendar, conveniently labeled "From Keep." Tapping the badge will take you straight back to the original note.

Google Keep will still have its "Reminders" page, accessible from the navigation drawer, where you can view your reminders in a list or grid format. If you delete a reminder within Keep, you'll be asked whether you want to remove both the task and the note, or just the note itself.

For the most part, the migration is pretty straightforward, with the exception of the location-based reminders. Here are a few small details to keep in mind:

  • Task Limits: You can have up to 100,000 tasks. If you have more Keep reminders than this, the oldest ones won't migrate.
  • Long Titles: If your Keep reminder title is too long, it will be shortened after it migrates to Tasks.
  • Pending Tasks: You can find a list of all "Pending tasks" from the last 365 days in the "All-day" section of your calendar for the current day.
  • Repeating Tasks: If a task repeats more than every 1,000 days, weeks, months, or years, the recurrence schedule will be adjusted to once every 1,000 days, weeks, months, or years. For example, a task that repeats every 2,000 days is adjusted to every 1,000 days.

One more important detail: Reminders that don't repeat and are older than a year will be added to an "Old Google Keep Reminders" list. Any tasks with dates beyond the year 3000 are adjusted to the year 2900.
