McLaren Racing celebrated its 2025 F1 Drivers’ Championship triumph as Lando Norris was welcomed back to the McLaren Technology Centre after clinching the title at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. Norris delivered a speech to the squad alongside Team Principal Andrea Stella, acknowledging the collective effort behind the win.
Norris’s victorious return to the factory began with a guard-of-honor on Wednesday, followed by another celebration a day later on the Boulevard, where the team honored the first Drivers’ Championship for McLaren since 2008. To mark the occasion, the MP4-23, the car Lewis Hamilton used to claim his first championship, stood beside a showcar of the MCL39—an intentional nod to McLaren’s storied history alongside its fresh triumphs.
During the proceedings, both Stella and Norris expressed gratitude for the work, resilience, and commitment shown by everyone involved. Stella highlighted the team’s endurance through the season’s tougher moments, while the celebrations closed with a toast and a video message from McLaren Racing CEO Zak Brown, who extended thanks to the team and partners.
Stella, reflecting on the season, stated: “In 2025, we are Constructors’ and Drivers’ World Champions. Well done, everyone. History is made by a team. I want to acknowledge the full extent of my gratitude to everyone in the team and to our families for their support along this journey.
“I’m incredibly proud not only of the achievements but also of the way we reached them. We did it the McLaren way. The 2025 season will be remembered in Formula 1 for having three drivers in contention at the final race—two of whom were McLaren drivers—which is a rarity in the sport. Additionally, we can’t forget that, in a sport defined by eras, we managed to halt Verstappen’s dominance, and we did it as a united team.
“We’ll all remember the moment when Oscar and then Lando crossed Abu Dhabi’s line. It’s a memory that will stay with us forever. The deeper realization came when I returned to the factory and saw the rest of the team at work.”
Norris, the 2025 Drivers’ World Champion, shared his perspective: “It’s surreal to stand here as champion. I’ve dreamt of this since I was a kid watching races on TV, not fully understanding what it would take or what it could mean for everyone involved, not just for me.
“Most importantly, it’s about the people who got us here—the family, friends, management, trainers, and especially the individuals who design, build, and fine-tune the car, my mechanics, and engineers. What truly makes me smile is watching the team react—their support is my biggest motivation, because the achievement is meaningless without the people who helped realize it.
“Racing beside Oscar over the last three seasons pushed me further. He’s played a huge role as my teammate, and our rivalry strengthened us both. He helped shape this journey with his relentless drive.
“I want to thank every person in the team from the bottom of my heart. Everyone contributes to our story, and I’ll remember this moment for the rest of my life. Here’s to many more chapters.”
